I agree up to a point! Our defense has looked shoddy all season but our first choice back 4 is impressive. But injuries are no excuse really, we need strength in depth - something we don't seem to have at spurs. Rocha hasn't impressed, Stalteri is not really good enough back up and Pascal should never, ever be allowed to play left back again! It was good to see Ledley back though, but he didn't look match fit in the first half!

Sorry but you are way off the mark here. Martin Jol has only been with us for 2 seasons. Each year I have seen a marked improvement. Compared to the dross we have been served up prior to his appointment, I am standing proud as a supporter.

We are not yet in the champions league and therefore will not attract players that you consider "real". You are dillusional if you think that by buying quality players you will automatically achieve success.

Last season we finished 5th and this season we have reached the semi finals of the Carling Cup, and the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup. We were knocked out by the league champions, by arsenal and last night by Seville (the UEFA Cup winners 2006 and probable winners this year). We are also in a good league position.

We are now at a stage that we are actually giving these top teams a game, as opposed to defending all game and praying for a draw. MJ does make some mistakes but generally he has done a great job.

We lost Assou-Ekoto, we lost Lee Young Pyo, we've been without Ledley King since Christmas, Rocha is in his first season in England and needs time, and Ifil has no experience either. When your defence has been decimated in that way, you do well to stay in games let alone win any.

Add to that the loss of Huddlestone (Tanio has only just returned) and Murphy and you can see that there is not much defensive suppoort for the already weakened defence either.

There are some things you can't account for when you make signings, and that is losing all your defenders at the same time.

I met John Pratt too. He was a nice guy, as too was Nutty Naylor. Pratt always had time for the fans even though he was given a torrid time. He wasn't a great player, but he always gave everything, so I got into arguments with my mates over it (even at that young age).

Our Defence:-
We do need 2 good fullbacks, and perhaps we should look to Phil Ifill and other reserves at the moment because we cannot buy until the summer. Paul Robinson needs to be more consistent with clean sheets and more dominant in the six yard box. If you look at the goal he let in against Wigan he went for the ball with the wrong arm and could not reach it !
Our centre back pairing of Ledley and Daws is strong and we need back-up for any injuries. We have missed Ledley this year and Rocha has been very poor and is too slow!

You're a very angry man peris. In the 2 seasons MJ has been our manager, have you noticed any difference in our style of play? Have you noticed any difference in our attitude? In our squad? In the atmosphere at the ground?

Do you actually go to the games or have you just read the gooner driven news papers?

We are currently lying 9th in the league. 2 points behind the team in 5th but with a game in hand and a better goal difference. Our last 3 matches are against Charlton, Blackburn and Manchester City. So the chances of a top 7 finish is very probable.

We have had good cup runs including one semi final and 2 quarter finals, despite many serious injuries to key players.

All in all, Mr Martin Jol has worked wonders and does not deserve any critisism, let alone the assault you have inflicted on him.

Lee young Po has had a fantastic season and has improved no end. Paul Staltieri, for all his errors of last season, has shown great character and has filled in well when called upon.

Every squad in the league can do with improvement, but ours has improved from last season and I have no doubt, that it will improve again in the summer.

Alot of our players this season are in their first season in England, let alone at the club.

They needed time to get used to each other and the pace of the EPL.

Whether you like it or not, they done pretty well, and I for one am optimistic of next season. We are not championship material yet, but we are alot closer than we were 3 seasons ago.

I noticed you weren't compairing senderos with Ledders and dawson, but as he is their first choice central defender, I compaired like for like.

Rocha only arrived in England last month, and apart from a shakey start, he seems to have settled in and has shown me enough to think he may be a key player. Gardner (probably our 4th choice defender is at least on par with senderos if not better.

Chimbonda has been superb and I have already told you what I think of the others.

Rocha has been out of position for those matches. He is no left back, so don't be too hard on him.

JJ gets slagged because his finishing is off the mark. He will win the ball after tracking back, but then give a sloppy pass, so people will moan and forget about the tackle. You either love him or hate him. I am a fan. He works harder than anyone else in the team. He tackles well, and he is always the first to support the forwards and when the move breaks down he will be the first one back. His influence was noticed when he was injured.

We need Garth Barry from Aston Villa to slot into Left Back he can also play at Left Midfield then King And Dawson and Chimbonda now thats a Defence Not bloddy Assout-Ekotto cant stand him

Then in Midfield Malbrabque Jenas Zokora Lennon....Id like to see good old Joey Barton with us because we need someone Aggressive who will fight for every ball in that Midfield like Davids used to for us

trouble with barry is he has no pace, which for a full back is extremely important, last year at the lane lennon tore him a new arse before he got sent off, I do agree though that we need a top quality left sided player sooner rather than later, the problem is there arn't many about and available.

I believe he may give charlie daniels a go very early next season. i've been watching him all season in the reserves and he has grown considerably as a player this season, he's currently on lone somewhere, if he does get a chance he'll let nobody down.
