Hello
I also want the glory days back, but when you are 2-1 down at Reading you cant wait until it`s 10 min to go before you do something.(I guess Berbatov played outstanding on your planet yesterday?)

The problem is that almost every time we meet teams in the bottom we loose? This is however not something that is new,we have lost or drawn this games a long time.

Iv been following spurs for 20 or so years and he is by far the best manager I have seen at WHL. we are NOT a top 5 team yet - we are a potential contender along with maybe 5 other sides - we will not fininsh top 6 this season (cant see it sorry). If half our players had the passion MJ shows wed be up there no problem!!! come on JJ, Ghally, Berby, Defoe, etc etc Coys!!

Martin Jol has done more for Spurs than any Manager in a decade or more. I do beleive he has a lot to learn though, but I think he can, and will keep Spurs on track to become a major force once again.
I think the areas he needs help with is certainly motivation, it is all to easy to motivate against Chelsea, but Reading away is where he needs to make the players play. Motivating Spurs at home is easy, the fans do that for him. He has a lot to learn in this regard, but I think he has the support of the team, and that is important.
His tactics are certainly short of experience. He has shown on several occasions a strange tactical switch that I am sure many have scratched their heads at.
Point in case, why take Defoe off and bring Berbertov on against Blackburn, when Keane coming on just behind the front two would have probably been a better choice, given we were playing against 10 men?

Why did he leave two subs on the bench against Chelsea at home last season with a minute or so to go, which gave Chelsea enough time to let Gallus smack in a winner. If he had used the subs Gallus never gets that ball?

martin certainly has a lot to learn, but he has all the credentuals to be a great Manager, the squad is learning, so is Jol, he is on the right track.

I am more concerned about the problem of "capacity" at WHL which will undo us if we do not get in the "game" along with Arsenal etc.

See my article "capacity"

Good Job Martin, we are certainly on the right track....

MJ is one of the best managers in the premier, our players give the top teams too much respect, and lower teams not enough, if only they put as much effort into their game as spending their wages we would be in the top 5

I think we have to look just a little back to see where we are at. If you consider that just prior to Jol coming in, we had no real expectation of anything, we had no real squad to work with, we had only the prospect of a cup run to cheer us on, and of course, something that we Spurs fans who have followed this team for a while, I am in my 46th year, have had to live on, HOPE!.

For the first time since I have to say, David Pleat's side of the 80's, we have a squad capable of acheiving the highest highs.

Martin Jol has achieved that. He has brought about a belief in not only the team, but us as fans. Sure, he has shown some inexperience with some of his decisions. Certainly from what I have read, most of us beleive that the game at "Camel Jockey Stadium" was by far his worst performance as a coach. His tactics were poor, and the result showed that. team selection was poor, formation was wrong, etc etc. Hindsight is of course 20/20 vision.

But how many of us, after just missing out on the top four last season, were waiting with great anticipation for the start of this season? I know I was.

We have a great squad, we are probably only two real strong players away from being a contender for the title. May seem a large ask, but a left sided midfield player, and a central player. A "Ballack" type player. Or a Viera. That is what we are missing. Perhaps in time Huddlestone will become that player, but if we lacked one major componant against the gooners it was real leadership. A driving force, a player like Roy keane who will kick players up the jacksee, make them play.
We really are that close, but Jol has to learn as well. Tactically he was poor against the gooners, this has happened before, and will happen again, but how do you point at Jol, when we go to reading, go one up, and give it up? was it tactics? can't say it was, it was lack of desire? was it lack of leadership on the field, I guess that was more of a problem. Ledley King is a great defender, but he is not a natural leader, Dawson certainly fits that bill more. Even Davids short term could be that guy. Jol can do nothing from the touchline to motivate, but a "lion" in the middle of the park can.

"To Dare is to Do" we all know it,

Time to show what we are made of,

The season has a long way to go, we are only 6 points out of 3rd, GAME ON!!!!!

6 points this week, and we will be ready for that first away win.

Come on u Spurs

I agree fully with you Crapshoot Steve:) .

BMJ needs to wise up quickly or I can see it will all ending in tears.

Gooner game was so embarrassing, I still havent recovered yet ,and must not be allowed too happen again. I have my doubts now about BMJ motivational skills especially in a game when its not really required.

Lets get it our of our systems tomorrow and beat the Boro.

Fingers crossed.

Crapshoot, I fully agree.

There was a discussion on Talksport the other day and they asked people to phone in and name a player from their past who they'd like in their team today.

Many phoned with Jurgen, or Teddy, who were legends and inspirational, but I was itching to phone and say Dave McKay. What I would give to have him in the team right now.

I think the past 10 days or so has shown what we can achieve if we get everything right. The commitment from the squad has been great, we took care of business against Boro and Charlton, saw of Dynamo yesterday in great fashion, motivation was there, and I think the boys are seeing how good they actually are. Have to turn that into 6 points the next two games, City and Newcastle away. No reason we cannot take care of business.
Important that we do.
We have every right to be top three.

I think Jol has to make the players play like they have the past few games, attack, qucik tempo, not many teams can cope with us if we play this way.

Lennon moving across the park, and Huddlestone and Zokora becoming stronger and stronger, with Defoe and Berbatov creating an understanding, we have major potentual.

i agree we seem to be moving in the right direction However the next few weeks for me will show how far we have come, yes we are in 3 cups BUT this is where it matters, no good being a semi final club - we need better than that.

Great to be in three cup competitions, however, it would be better winning one of them. Jol is a great manager, sometimes, I feel that he takes too long to sub players when certain players are not performing well. This has cost us a few points this season.
