Default Aaron Lennon ??? - 08-05-2007, 09:59 AM

After yesterday's display against Charlton, my question is what is wrong with Aaron Lennon?, can't be faitgue, he is still a young player. Is it home sickness again or as rumours go around, too many late nights clubbing and it's starting to show?. He played on the right, favourite position, and it must have been his worst performance in our colours. Is he suffering from any injuries that we are not aware of?. Chimbonda was also below par last night, we also seemed to lose the determination, we started off with. Hopefully, we will put on a much stronger performance against Blackburn. Your comments.

when aaron lennon first broke into the team, he was a shock to many other clubs. nobody had heard of him before so a player of his pace and skill was a surprise to other clubs. now he is more well known, people realise the threat he causes. now, defenders mark tighter to him, sometimes even putting 2 players on him 2 keep him quiet. he isnt getting the time and space that he got in his 1st season where he looked so good. my point is that i do not believe lennon has lost his touch or isnt trying as hard as he did last year. instead, he is facing an even tougher challenge now that people recognise him as a threat, and is struggling to cope because of this.

Am presently watching the game on Sky Sports one again, advantages of working from home, not trying to run Lennon down, however, I have noticed that Lennon was not marked by two to three players throughout his presence on the pitch, at times he could not even hold possession. There must be more explanation as regards to his well below par performance last night.

well if he was given the time and space i dont c y he shouldnt hav performed to the level that we no he can play at. i do remember a few times during the game where last season he would hav skipped past a few players with ease, but now he seems to be looking for passes. maybe jol has told him to look to bring others into the game. if he has, then i think its a big mistake because the main part of lennons game is taking people on, and from last nights display, his passing isnt much to be desired.

I think theres a simple answer to this, the form of players can at times be indifferent but class is permanent, anyone who's seen lennon over the past 2 seasons will surely agree he's class, he's still only a baby in football terms not yet 20, still learning his trade so to say.
I believe whe've only seen a glimpse of what awaits, If lennon were to come on the market now every major club not just in the epl but in europe would be outbidding each other for his signature, fact!.
be thankful that big mj and his staff had the foresight to sign him, at a ridiculousy bargain price as well and look forward to Aaron scareing the begeebers out opposing defence's for years to come.

I agree that Lennon was not at his best at all last night and it was a game he could have shown easily shown his skills. However It was right to take him off and bring on Steed who I thought was very professional kept possesion well and played simple passes unlike chimonda who gave it away too often instead of just clearing it in last few minutes. I'm sure Lennon will make up for it on Thurs or/and sunday.

Overall I was most happy that we were able to hang onto a very early lead for whole game and then killed it off right at the end. A clean sheet can never be a bad thing well done Defence and Tiano who does do great job. Does make you wonder how many more clean sheets and points we'd have if King and Dawson were together for all 38 prem games.

Bring on Europe, AGAIN!!

Agree that Lennon has had a few duff games but I think he needs a bit of stability. Let him play on the right and let him run. But lets be fair - who can keep up that kind of pace for 90 minutes? Agree with what others have said, he is marked more now than he was. On the negative side, he really needs to work on his passing and he had a couple of chances last night that for some reason he was too scared to take.

Lennon is only nineteen years old and Keano, who is much older seems to never run out of steam. Work that one out. I think, he is passing through a bad patch.

Whilst many of my previous posts should tell you how much I adore Robbie, even i am not biased enough to claim that he is as fast as Lennon. Leave the poor boy alone.
